New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has developed a stress reaction in his right foot, ESPN reported. The stress reaction was revealed by a recent MRI exam and makes Manning susceptible to suffering a stress fracture that potentially would end his season, according to the report. The condition is related to the plantar fasciitis with which Manning played this season, the network reported. The issue isn't enough to sideline Manning and the Giants have been taking precautions to try to prevent a stress fracture from occurring, ESPN reported.

Quarterback Kurt Warner probably will sit out the Arizona Cardinals' game Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, according to multiple reports. Warner suffered a concussion last Sunday. He passed neurological tests early in the week, according to the Cardinals, and participated in practices. However, he reportedly experienced some neck tightness later in the week. Matt Leinart would start in place of Warner.

According to a report by Fox, an independent neurologist recommended that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger not play in Sunday night's game at Baltimore. Roethlisberger is not scheduled to play in the game after suffering a concussion during last Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. According to the report by Fox, the Steelers weren't yet required to have Roethlisberger examined by an outside doctor but did so late in the week anyway after Roethlisberger was experiencing concussion-related symptoms. The doctor said that Roethlisberger shouldn't play in this weekend's game, Fox reported. Under a new NFL policy that's in the process of being implemented, teams are to consult with independent neurologists when players suffer concussions. The Carolina Panthers added wide receiver Steve Smith to their official injury report. He's listed as questionable because of sore ribs, according to the Associated Press. The Panthers play the New York Jets at Giants Stadium.

The Indianapolis Colts will be without defensive end Dwight Freeney for Sunday's game at Houston. Freeney didn't practice all week because of an abdominal injury and didn't accompany the Colts on their trip Saturday to Houston, according to multiple reports. The Colts are 10-0 this season and have won 19 straight regular season games.

The Buffalo Bills promoted defensive lineman Corey Mace from their practice squad to their 53-man roster, the team announced Saturday. Mace played in three games last season after being promoted from the practice squad in December. The Bills released tight end Joe Klopfenstein.

Former Washington Redskins guard Russ Grimm was among 25 modern era semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced Saturday. The NFL's career receiving leader, Jerry Rice, and career rushing leader, Emmitt Smith, headlined the list of semifinalists, which resulted after selectors trimmed a group of 131 preliminary candidates. Tim Brown and Aeneas Williams joined Rice and Smith in making the list of semifinalists in their first year of Hall of Fame eligibility. The other semifinalists are former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue, former owner Art Modell, former coach Don Coryell and former players Cliff Branch, Cris Carter, Roger Craig, Terrell Davis, Dermontti Dawson, Richard Dent, Chris Doleman, Kevin Greene, Ray Guy, Charles Haley, Lester Hayes, Rickey Jackson, Cortez Kennedy, John Randle, Andre Reed, Shannon Sharpe and Steve Tasker. Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger reportedly will miss Sunday night's game in Baltimore because of the ongoing effects of the concussion he suffered last weekend. Fox reported that Roethlisberger will sit out the game after suffering headaches. Dennis Dixon, who has thrown one regular season pass in the NFL, is to start against the Ravens, according to the report by Fox. Roethlisberger suffered a concussion during last Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin announced Tuesday that Roethlisberger had passed neurological tests Monday and would practice during the week, and perhaps would play in Baltimore. But Tomlin also said the Steelers would take a cautious approach and Roethlisberger would not play if any concussion-related symptoms resurfaced.

According to the league-owned NFL Network, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is considering sitting out Sunday night's game against the Baltimore Ravens. A decision is to be made Saturday, according to the league's television channel. Roethlisberger suffered a concussion during last Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. According to the NFL Network, Roethlisberger told Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin that he has concerns about being hit in the head so soon after suffering a concussion. Tomlin announced Tuesday that Roethlisberger had passed neurological tests Monday. With veteran backup Charlie Batch sidelined after undergoing surgery for a broken wrist, Dennis Dixon would be in line to start the game at quarterback for the Steelers if Roethlisberger doesn't play. Dixon has thrown one regular season pass in the NFL.

Tailback Adrian Peterson was sick and missed the Minnesota Vikings' practice Friday. He was listed as questionable on the official injury report. Peterson was limited in practices earlier in the week because of an ankle injury but according to the Associated Press, Coach Brad Childress and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said that Peterson should be able to play Sunday against the Chicago Bears.
