Bruschi Announces Retirement
Linebacker Tedy Bruschi announced his retirement Monday after 13 NFL seasons, all with the New England Patriots. "This would be so much harder for me if there were goals left I wanted to accomplish," Bruschi said at a morning news conference. "... Every player's career, every player in that locker room's career, is going to have a beginning, a middle and an end, and today is my end." Bruschi, 36, played on three Super Bowl-winning teams with the Patriots and was selected to the Pro Bowl in the 2004 season. He resumed his career after suffering a stroke in February 2005. Bruschi underwent surgery to have a hole in his heart repaired following his stroke and returned to the Patriots to play nine games in the 2005 season.
