Packers say operating profits are down

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010
The Green Bay Packers announced Wednesday that they had posted an operating profit of $9.8 million over the last year. That was down more than $10 million from the team's $20.1 million operating profit the previous year, club officials said. Packers President Mark Murphy said the franchise took in its largest amount of revenue ever. But player costs have risen at twice the rate of revenue gains in recent years, according to Murphy, who said the financial figures illustrate that the NFL's current labor situation is "not a sustainable model." The Packers are the league's only publicly owned franchise, and the announcement of the franchise's financial report comes as the NFL is attempting to negotiate a new labor deal with its players' union. "It really highlights the concerns we've had," Murphy said in a conference call with reporters. "It's obviously not a good situation when you have player costs

Vick was not the shooter and there are no suspects other than the shooter, police spokesman Adam Bernstein said. The decision not to press charges was made by the prosecutor's office, but could be reversed if the victim decides to cooperate.

Report: Video contradicts Vick’s timeline

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010
Security camera video taken at the Virginia Beach restaurant that hosted Michael Vick's birthday party shows a different version of events prior to Friday's shooting than the one provided by the Eagles QB's attorney, according to a report in the Daily Press of Newport News. The paper quotes Allen Fabijan, spokesman for the Guadalajara restaurant, saying Vick "and his entourage" drove off from in front of the restaurant at 2:07 a.m. Three minutes later, shots rang out from that direction, Fabijan said. "You can see everybody duck at 2:10," Fabijan said of bystanders on the video. "I'm not saying that Michael Vick did the shooting. But he did not leave (long) before" as Vick's attorney, Larry Woodward, said his client told police Monday. Woodward responded: "I stand by what I said, that Michael was long gone before the shooting, does not know who did the shooting and had nothing to
