Lawyers say woman cooperating with authorities
The lawyers for the woman who accused Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of sexually assaulting her last week in a Milledgeville, Ga., nightclub issued a statement Tuesday asking the media "to respect her privacy, keep her name out of the press and allow the family space and time to heal." According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the statement released by Atlanta attorneys David Walbert and Lee Parks also said the woman "has done the right thing and reported this matter to police. She has been, and will be, available to the authorities to assist them in the criminal investigation." The Milledgeville police chief said this week that investigators were making arrangements to interview Roethlisberger and people who were with him on the night of the alleged incident. Roethlisberger has not been charged with a crime. His attorney, Edward Garland, has said that Roethlisberger is innocent of any crime.
