Maryland’s Campbell dazzles at combine

INDIANAPOLIS--University of Maryland offensive tackle Bruce Campbell has become a standout performer at the NFL scouting combine. Campbell, who was regarded by many draft analysts as a likely first-round pick in April entering the combine, had an eye-catching performance in the 40-yard dash Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium. He was timed unofficially at 4.78 and 4.81 seconds, according to the league-owned NFL Network. Campbell's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, called it a record-setting performance that should boost Campbell's draft stock. Rosenhaus, writing on Twitter, called Campbell's time "unprecedented." Rosenhaus wrote later: "Bruce Campbell ran the best 40 time ever for an offensive lineman and at 314 [pounds] he will now be a surefire top 10 pick in the draft!" Campbell had a more-than-respectable 34 lifts of a 225-pound weight bar in the bench press Friday.
