Peppers Signs Deal With Panthers
Defensive end Julius Peppers has signed a one-year contract with the Carolina Panthers, the team has announced. The Panthers announced that Peppers signed his franchise player tender, meaning the deal is worth $16.683 million. There is no agreement that Peppers won't be franchised again next offseason, according to the Panthers. "It's not a lot different than what we've been saying," Panthers General Manager Marty Hurney said, according to the team's website. "We've had very good communication with Carl Carey [the agent for Peppers] throughout the process. "It's really a culmination of what has transpired over the past few months. Every conversation has been positive. All indications were that he was going to sign and be in for training camp." Peppers had indicated earlier that he wanted to play elsewhere next season, and it was reported at one point that he was likely to be traded to the New England
