Players visit troops on USO tour
San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis was among a group of four NFL players who recently visited troops in the Persian Gulf under a program by the league and the USO. Other players on the trip were Cleveland Browns offensive tackle Joe Thomas, Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten and Houston Texans defensive end Mario Williams. Davis, formerly of the University of Maryland, said in a written statement released by the USO: "I've had a terrific experience on my USO tour. The troops have taught us so much, and it is amazing to see their courage and bravery."
