Saints’ McCray fined $20K

The NFL fined New Orleans Saints defensive end Bobby McCray $20,000 for two hits on Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre during last Sunday's NFC championship game, according to the league's Web site. McCray was penalized for one of the hits, which came after Favre handed off the ball on a running play. The other play, according to the NFL's web site, was a low hit on which Favre suffered an ankle injury. McCray was not penalized on that play but Mike Pereira, the NFL's vice president of officiating, said this week that the hit should have produced a 15-yard personal foul. The penalty, if called, would have nullified an interception that Favre threw on the play. Favre injured his left ankle on McCray's low hit but returned to the game, which the Saints won in overtime.
