Steelers reportedly to withhold Clark

The Pittsburgh Steelers are likely to withhold safety Ryan Clark from their game at Denver on Monday night, the league-owned NFL Network reported. Clark has a rare sickle-cell trait that can produce life-threatening health complications at high altitudes. He underwent surgery to have his spleen removed after playing a game at Denver two years ago. Doctors have cleared Clark to play in this game and believe the risk of him experiencing similar complications is low but, according to the NFL Network's report, the Steelers are almost certain to order Clark to sit out the game. Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin reportedly won't make any official comments about Clark's playing status for the game before Thursday.
